Egypt is going to Sweden and Almedalen for dialogue!

On 1st of July the Swedish Institute Alexandria (SwedAlex) is organising the debate “How can we understand the role of Religion in building Democracy” at the well-known Almedalen Week (http://www.almedalsveckan.info/6911) on the island of Gotland using the platform Sverige i Världen (Sweden in the World). The debate will be moderated by the Director of SwedAlex; Ambassador Birgitta Holst-Alani and it will be between religious representatives, researchers and politicians from Sweden and Egypt. In a time when Egyptian politics is leading up to what some in Egypt refers to as the new revolution on the 30th of June with the opposition organizing nationwide demonstrations.  At the same time Sweden is also licking its wounds from the uprisings in the suburbs of Husby and other places; as well as the current debate on religious representatives in party politics – this debate comes at an appropriate time.

Follow the debate streamed on SwedAlex webpage http://www.swedenabroad.com/en-GB/Embassies/Alexandria/ or http://www.swedalex.org as well as on the official streaming page for the Almedalen Week on www.gotlandlive.se.
